Rightsizing
Rightsizing: Making Your Next Move Simple
By Rosemary Kelleher ·

After years in the family home, the idea of moving can feel overwhelming. Decades of memories, a full basement, and a lot of decisions. I like to call it rightsizing rather than downsizing, because the goal is not to have less. It is to have exactly what you need.
Begin with the life, not the house
Where do you want to spend your time? Closer to grandchildren, near the water, walking distance to town? Once the lifestyle is clear, the right home becomes much easier to see.
Sort in stages
- Start with rooms that hold the fewest emotions
- Invite family to claim treasured pieces early
- Use trusted estate and donation partners for the rest
Sell with strategy
Long held homes often carry significant equity. Smart timing, thoughtful staging and accurate pricing help you capture it. I coordinate the details so the move feels organized and calm, from the first conversation to the closing table.
